Compete for the title of Wisconsin PAS High School Marimba Champion! This competition seeks to help educate student musicians and to contribute to the quality and evolution of marimba performance. Open to all grade 9-12 students currently enrolled in a Wisconsin school, competitors will prepare solo marimba repertoire from the WSMA Class A list (or a piece of equivalent difficulty). The winner of the competition will get to perform on the Day of Percussion afternoon showcase concert. A 5-octave marimba will be provided. The adjudicator & clinician for this event is UW-Stevens Point Professor Brian Baldauff.

High School Marimba Competition Rules

  • Repertoire: Any WSMA Class "A" marimba solo or any piece of equivalent difficulty.

    • ​Original compositions are acceptable as long as a legible score is provided to the judges.

  • Maximum performance time is 8 minutes.

  • A warm-up opportunity will be provided 30 minutes prior to the start of the competition.

  • Link to the registration form can be found at the top of this page.

  • The registration deadline is April 5th 2019.

  • Exact performance times will be assigned one registration has closed on April 5th.

  • The winner of the competition will get to perform on the WI DoP afternoon Showcase Concert.

  • A height-adjustable 5-octave marimba will be provided for participants to use.

  • All sticks/mallets & other gear ​needed should be brought by participants.
