Emma Angoli
Program Director
Emma Angoli is the director of the Mukwonago High School Band program, a position she has held since 2014. The program is comprised of a number of performing ensembles including: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble I & II, the Mukwonago High School Marching Band, pep band, and Blue2 Indoor - a winter percussion & colorguard program she helped create. In addition to the performing ensembles, Emma teaches Music Theory on a biennial basis and in the 2018-2019 school year she will debut a Beginner Ukulele class as a means of reaching students not actively involved in the Mukwonago High School music program.
The Mukwonago Band program regularly rehearses and performs with clinicians and guest artists. Recent residencies have included: Maestro Filippo Salemmi and students from his Italian Music Conservatories; Ron Carter, NIU Professor Emeritus; Dr. Joseph Greer, principal trombonist of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra; the Carthage College Music Faculty; and Mike Forbes, composer and principal tubist of the La Crosse & Manitowoc Symphonies.
Emma is an active member of the National Association for Music Education and was named the 2018 “Teacher of the Year” by the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee. In 2017, Emma spearheaded the commissioning of composer Nathan Daughtrey to write Movers and Shakers, a work for the Mukwonago High School combined Band, Choir and Orchestra. The world premiere, featuring over 250 musicians, coincided with the opening of the new Greenwald Performing Arts Center in Mukwonago.Emma taught for three years with the Lighthouse Brigade of Racine summer marching band in the MACBDA circuit. In her time as Music Caption Head, the Lighthouse Brigade won the 2017 MACBDA Championship and took home five caption awards including Outstanding Music General Effect and Outstanding Music Execution.
Emma received her Bachelor's in Instrumental Music Education at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2012. There she studied with Dr. Tom Seddon and Mr. Tom Brown on trumpet. Emma was a two time recipient of the Symphonic Brass Quintet scholarship and participated in Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I & II, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and the Screaming Eagles Marching Band where she served both as drum major and as a section leader.
